Staff Comments

Mr. Dave Coates , Director of Guidance, noted that over eighty PTA hours have been put in to schedule our students. He thanked all those who have helped and pointed out the savings involved. Mr. Coates will plan on implementing a tracking system (through Kirkwood College) for next year that will greatly simplify the job that Leslie Rambo does locating our graduates. There were over 100 in attendance at the 9 th -10 th College Planning night, and also a good turn out for the junior meeting. The email/phone notification system is working well to keep attendance up for these types of events. The individual junior conferences continue to take place.

Dr. Peggy Hardesty , Faculty Liaison and 9 th grade Counselor, is now enrolling next year's freshmen in classes. The freshman orientation finally took place after weather cancellations. The Franklin, McKinley, Harding and Roosevelt 8 th graders attended a Washington co-curricular presentation here. They were able to learn about the options for their high school years. The morning event received very positive reviews from students and staff.

Old Business

•  WHS Web Site – Lisa Thirnbeck is working to archive the meeting minutes on the web site.
•  Refrigerator for Faculty Lounge -- several people are still checking sources for the best solution before a decision is made
•  Tablecloths – Sara Clark will be purchasing the new tablecloths. PTA will be splitting the total cost of $320, with the Athletic Club.

New Business

•  Our PTA has the funds to send one delegate to the State PTA convention in Des Moines on April 16-17. If anyone is interested please let Lynn Dennis know.

The meeting adjourned at 10:00 a.m. followed by Dr. Plagman's program on various topics, including ITED awards wrap-up and staff reductions. Questions and answers followed.
